The Carbon Almanac

“The things that change the world, according to Chaos theory, are the tiny things. A butterfly flaps its wings in the Amazonian jungle, and subsequently a storm ravages half of Europe.”

— from Good Omens, by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

The Carbon Almanac is the result of thousands of small and some not so small acts from writers, editors, researchers, designers, leaders, and illustrators in over 40 countries round the globe. We all came together under the leadership of marketing guru Seth Godin to tell a story … the impact of climate change on our world.

From this small beginning in the fall of 2021, The Carbon Almanac came together into a highly readable, beautiful 330+ page book, published globally on July 15, 2022*.

It tells the story about a complex issue, the story of carbon’s impact on the global food system, ocean acidity, agriculture, energy, biodiversity, extreme weather events, the economy and human health.

This is an almanac. It describes what is really happening on the ground right now. It is about facts, not opinions. It offers actionable insights, not complicated statistics.

While this seems like a small step, like the butterfly effect, no one knows what its real impact will be. It’s up to us. Share it, talk about it, and let’s see the ripple effect begin.

Welcome to the journey!

*Buy the book or borrow it. It’s not too late! Here’s a link to Seth’s Blog about the book, including an inspiring video about the mission all of us embarked on last year.
